Protocol is seeking a Learning Support Practitioner to join its prison education team in Hertfordshire. You will support learners with SEND, develop individual plans, and monitor progress in a secure custodial environment. The role emphasizes safeguarding and close collaboration with tutors, healthcare professionals and prison staff.

The position is fully site-based, with mandatory prison security clearance and a focus on rehabilitation and personal development for learners.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) or equivalent.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records.
• Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and effective support strategies.
• Good organisational and IT skills and ability to work independently.

Responsabilités

• Provide one-to-one and in-class support for learners with additional learning needs.
• Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and achievement.
• Develop and review individual support plans and monitor progress.
• Promote independence and self-advocacy among learners.
• Maintain accurate learner records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, security, quality and contractual requirements.
