Job summary

Wymondham College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (Maternity Cover) to support students with special educational needs. The role involves working closely with the SENCO to develop care plans, administering medical support as required, and fostering a positive learning environment.

The successful candidate will have GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent) and previous experience with young people. A supportive school community and staff benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with young people in a classroom or similar environment would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work with SENCO to develop the student's care plan as the student develops.
• Administer medical support as per individual Medical Care Plans with any necessary training.
• Collaborate with teachers to help the student learn in group and individual settings.
• Clarify and explain instructions; ensure the student can use equipment and materials.
• Motivate and develop a good working relationship with the student; support weaker areas as needed.
• Help the student concentrate and finish work; meet physical needs while encouraging independence.
