Job summary

Academics in Shenfield, Essex, is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school. You will support pupils aged 11-16, working alongside teachers to promote progress, engagement and confidence.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with a daily rate of £90-£110 depending on experience. A patient, proactive approach and a willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people in an education, youth work, care or support setting is desirable.
• Experience supporting students with SEND is advantageous but not essential.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working closely alongside teaching staff.
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning, engagement and progress.
• Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence and independence.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Assist teachers with preparing classroom resources and adapting learning materials where required.
• Work collaboratively with the SEN department, pastoral team and teaching staff to ensure every student receives the support they need.
