Job summary

South Ayrshire Council is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to help relieve teachers of non-teaching duties and to support learning activities in the classroom. The role includes assisting with preparation of teaching materials and providing support to pupils with a range of needs.

You will work under the direction of teachers and other colleagues, supporting classroom routines and contributing to an inclusive learning environment across Ayrshire communities.

Qualifications

• PVG Scheme membership or update required before offer
• Must be registered with the SSSC within 6 months of employment

Responsibilities

• Relieve teachers of non-teaching duties including classroom administration and practical tasks such as preparation of teaching materials
• Support learning activities under direction of the classroom teacher / Principal Teacher and other colleagues
• Support pupils with additional support needs of a wide nature including physical difficulties and challenging behaviour
