Job summary

New Directions Education Ltd is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision in Wakefield, supporting pupils with diverse additional learning needs. You will help learners develop academic, social and emotional skills within an inclusive setting.

The HLTA will deliver tailored activities, assist teachers, lead interventions, and promote positive behaviour. Applicants should have a recognised HLTA qualification and experience in SEND; a DBS check will

Qualifications

HLTA qualification or equivalent educational qualification.
Experience supporting children or young people in a SEND setting.
Knowledge of ASD, SEMH, ADHD and communication difficulties.
Ability to lead learning activities and interventions independently.

Responsibilities

Deliver structured learning sessions to individuals and small groups.
Support teachers with planning and delivery of engaging lessons.
Lead classroom activities and cover lessons when required.
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and independent learning.
Adapting learning resources to meet individual needs and abilities.
Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
Creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment.
