Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is recruiting an Early Intervention Youth Worker based at County Hall, Glenfield, with hybrid working across Leicestershire. The role supports children (11+) and families, building trusted relationships, completing referrals, and delivering targeted interventions to reduce risk.

You will work with multi‑agency partners, advocate for children, and contribute to safeguarding and service development. DBS checked and full driving licence required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or above is required with significant experience of working with children (11+).
• Assess and identify immediate risks, needs and priorities; provide short interventions and signpost to appropriate services.
• Demonstrate understanding of vulnerable children, differing developmental needs, trauma and capturing children’s voices in decisions.
• Guide families to local services and empower referrals, offering assistance when needed.
• Use targeted interventions to stabilise situations and strengthen family functioning.
• Form positive, collaborative relationships with professional partners to meet children’s needs.
• Evidence safeguarding knowledge and practice in line with local and national policies, welfare safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Support children and families by building strong, trusting relationships.
• Complete referrals to partner agencies and deliver one-to-one interventions.
• Advocate for children, navigate challenges with multi-agency partners.
• Contribute to service development, attend meetings and supervision.
• Work across Leicestershire with focus on Hinckley/Bosworth and North West Leicestershire.
