Job summary

YMCA East Surrey is seeking a Disability Play and Youth Worker to support children and young people with complex needs in Surrey. This part-time, on-site role includes weekends during term-time and holidays, with sessions from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm in Tadworth and Leatherhead.

You will work as part of a team to ensure high-quality care, safeguarding, and inclusive activities. Training is provided, and there is an extensive development program for staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children and young people with disabilities may be beneficial.
• Ability to work in a team and follow care plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level support for children and young people with complex needs, ensuring care and behaviour plans are understood and followed.
• Assist children to engage in activities with appropriate support; help achieve desired outcomes.
• Store and administer medication after training, with accurate record-keeping.
• Assist with moving and handling of children with restricted mobility after training, including use of mobility equipment.
• Support communication and sensory impairment needs using aids.
• Supervise hygiene, safety, nutrition and daily observations; report to Leader.
• Accompany children on trips, following policies and risk assessments to keep them safe.
• Contribute to planning, organising and delivering accessible activities across sessions.
