Job summary

Durham County Council seeks an experienced Lead Child Protection Practitioner to influence our child protection practice and inspire change for the children and families we support. This permanent role is based in the East of the County and involves guiding others to deliver child-centered protection work.

The role is non–case-holding and focuses on leadership, supervision, and collaboration across a Multi-Agency Child Protection Team, with involvement in strategy meetings and core groups to

Qualifications

• Substantial post-qualifying experience working with children, young people, families or carers.
• Experience using policies, laws and guidance to inform practice decisions.
• Experience leading strategy meetings and chairing child protection conferences.
• Ability to gather and analyze information to create plans with children, young people, families or carers.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and guidance to social workers, practitioners, managers and partners.
• Support learning and build confidence and skill among practitioners.
• Facilitate group supervision and contribute to quality assurance.
• Be part of a Multi-Agency Child Protection Team.
• Attend strategy meetings and chair child protection conferences, coordinating core groups as required to ensure timely progress and positive outcomes.
