Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking a confident Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to support pupils across mainstream primary schools in the Gillingham and Medway area. The role focuses on pupils with additional needs, providing 1:1 support and small-group work to foster positive behaviour and engagement.

You will help pupils manage emotions, maintain focus, and participate in lessons throughout the day, collaborating with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, SEN or additional needs.
• Ability to stay calm and professional in difficult situations.
• Patience, resilience and ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for pupils needing behavioural and emotional support.
• Lead or support small-group sessions for children with SEN.
• Help pupils develop positive behaviour, social skills and emotional regulation.
• Manage challenging situations calmly using de-escalation strategies.
• Support pupils to access classroom learning and participate in school life.
• Work closely with teachers to maintain consistent support across settings.
• Be flexible and prepared to work across KS1 and KS2.
