Job summary

Academics is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant for a welcoming mainstream primary school in Cheltenham. The role focuses on 1:1 and small group support for children with behavioural and SEND needs, helping them regulate emotions and participate in class.

This is a full-time, term-time only position from 8:30am to 3:30pm, ASAP start, with a daily rate of £89–£105 depending on experience. You will collaborate with the SENCO, teachers and parents to tailor strategies and foster a calm,

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with behavioural needs or SEND settings.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with behavioural and SEND needs, helping them regulate emotions and participate fully in class.
• Implement tailored behaviour management strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support with de-escalation and proactive management of challenging behaviour.
• Work alongside the SENCO, teaching staff, and parents to create and review individualised support plans.
• Promote wellbeing and safety during lessons, breaks, and school activities.
