Job summary

University of Cambridge Museums seeks an experienced Impact Evaluation Lead to establish a new team working across the University's museums, libraries, archives and Botanic Garden. You will develop a shared evaluation approach to understand social, cultural and economic impacts, manage a specialist team and support colleagues to generate and act on evidence.

The role involves leading longitudinal evaluation, building datasets, and embedding learning across a large, complex organisation;

Job description

Are you passionate about building evidence that strengthens the role of collections, culture and research to support positive change in society? The University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) is looking for an experienced and collaborative Impact Evaluation Lead to establish a new team working across the University's museums, libraries, archives and Botanic Garden.

Together, the University Collections represent the UK's highest concentration of internationally important collections outside London. Through engagement, participation and research, we bring people together to explore the big questions: from the earliest forms of life to the future of our planet. Now we're investing in our ability to understand and evolve the impact of that work. Working across programmes, disciplines and communities, the Impact Evaluation Lead will develop a shared approach to evaluation to better understand the social, cultural and economic impact of participation with collections. You'll manage a specialist team to develop longitudinal approaches to evaluation, build robust datasets and insights, and support colleagues to generate, interpret and act on evidence.

About You

• We're looking for someone with substantial experience of designing and leading evaluation teams working alongside participation and engagement with culture and collections.
• You’ll be confident developing approaches to evaluation that generate meaningful insight over time and across diverse settings. You’ll be able to use evidence to shape decision-making, strengthen practice, build capability in others and help embed learning across a complex organisation.
• You’ll bring a strong commitment to socially just and inclusive evaluation practice, with the ability to apply approaches that support participants and communities who are underserved, underrepresented or at risk of marginalisation.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
