Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a State Registered Biomedical Scientist for the Immunology Department at Royal Derby Hospital. You will contribute to the diagnostic service, support QA/QC, and help train BMS staff and MLAs in a busy diagnostic laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• State Registered Biomedical Scientist with HCPC (or equivalent) registration.
• Experience in a diagnostic laboratory environment is desirable.
• Knowledge of ISO 15189 standards, Health & Safety requirements and audit processes would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the provision of a high quality, accurate and timely diagnostic Immunology Service.
• Assist with training, instruction and supervision of trainee BMSs and MLAs within the Department.
• Assist senior staff in maintaining and developing the service in line with departmental objectives.
• Undertake day to day sample processing and authorisation of clinical results as competency is attained to maintain KPI's.
• Help maintain UKAS accreditation through involvement in QMS activities.
• Use of automated ELISA and slide processing equipment.
• Maintenance of equipment.
• Service development including quality management activities and projects.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Experience with current equipment and manual immunological techniques; training in Q-Pulse and Winpath will be provided.
