Job summary

Career Moves Group seeks an Acoustic Research Engineer near Cambourne, West Cambridge, to join a global technology team focused on acoustic measurement, signal processing and experimental tool development.

The role involves hands-on laboratory work in advanced audio facilities, developing data-collection systems, and collaborating across engineering disciplines to deliver realistic sound experiences.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in a relevant technical field.
  • At least three years in audio technology development or equivalent.
  • Three years designing and conducting audio/acoustic experiments in lab settings.
  • Strong hands-on acoustics and audio signal processing knowledge.
  • Practical knowledge of test and measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop systems, interfaces and protocols for acoustic data acquisition.
  • Create data-processing and experimental tools using Python, MATLAB and MaxMSP.
  • Design and conduct acoustic measurements and auditory experiments.
  • Configure capture systems with microphones, loudspeakers and prototypes.
  • Collect, process, clean and analyse acoustic data.
  • Improve automation of audio data collection and measurement processes.
  • Plan acoustic setups for controlled lab experiments.
  • Collaborate with researchers across disciplines.
  • Produce clear technical reports documenting methodologies and results.
