Job description

Job Title: Immediate Support Coordinator – Somerset and Devon

Reports to: Bereavement Services Manager

Salary: £26,500 per annum, pro-rata for part-time

Location: Remote with travel within Somerset

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days

Post No: 2WISC12FT

Context of Role:

2wish supports individuals affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We provide immediate casework support, ongoing services including counselling, therapies, support events, and a respite cottage. The successful candidate will develop relationships with stakeholders and provide emotional and practical support to families, friends, witnesses, and professionals.

Main Duties:
  1. Initiate immediate support for families of children and young people who have died suddenly and unexpectedly across Somerset and bordering counties.
  2. Contact families within 24-48 hours of referral by telephone.
  3. Complete initial assessments to identify and plan support, ensuring safeguarding and risk reduction.
  4. Offer emotional support via home visits and weekly calls.
  5. Coordinate with the Counselling Support and Outreach Coordinator for formal support services.
  6. Work with healthcare and emergency professionals to promote referrals and raise awareness.
  7. Collaborate with other professionals for holistic support.
  8. Attend local forums and deliver awareness training in relevant settings.
  9. Ensure families receive memory boxes and facilitate debriefs after traumatic events.
  10. Work with hospital trusts to maintain bereavement suites.
  11. Manage stock of memory boxes and deliver to partners.
  12. Submit regular reports to the Bereavement Services Manager.
  13. Refer families to other agencies as needed.
  14. Cover team members during leave or sickness.
  15. Travel for meetings, training, and events.
General Duties:
  1. Organise own work schedule and administration.
  2. Respect cultural and religious beliefs.
  3. Engage in learning and development opportunities.
  4. Adhere to policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and lone working.
  5. Attend community events and team meetings, participate in training.
  6. Contribute to social media platforms.

This role requires flexibility and adaptability to unpredictable tasks. Performance reviews will be conducted periodically.
