Joining the digital service puts you at the heart of the Trust’s digital enablement journey. The implementation of the Hive Electronic Patients Record (EPR), powered by EPIC, in September 2022, which was the biggest of its kind in the UK at that time, was the first step in realising the MFT vision of a ‘Digital First’ organisation and significantly increases the Trust’s capability to unleash the power of data, through its ability to capture high quality/volume acute clinical and non-clinical services data and to exploit this data to catalyse digital transformation and support improved patient care.
In parallel we have an ambitious digital strategy, which builds on Hive EPR as an engine for transformation for MFT, to deliver scalable, robust, and reliable digital infrastructure, applications, and services, to support other major programmes. This includes the delivery of the Single Hospital Service which was achieved when North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) formally joined MFT in April 2021. As well as supporting national projects, including the New Hospitals Programme, with the redevelopment of the NMGH which is defining the digital approach to a new generation of hospitals. Further, we are developing our governance approach to ensure the Trust makes best safe use of advances such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Robotic Process Automation across all our services.
