Job summary

CNC Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Construction Estimator / Purchaser in the Ilminster area for a permanent, full-time role. You will support projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and accurate estimation in line with client specifications and budgets.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in estimating and purchasing, strong knowledge of materials and supply chains, and the ability to read architectural drawings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction estimating and/or purchasing.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, pricing, and supply chains.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (architectural/structural).
• Familiarity with tendering procedures and building regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates from tender docs and drawings.
• Develop cost plans, design-to-cost budgets, and feasibility studies.
• Produce material take-offs from drawings.
• Negotiate with suppliers to source quality materials and value.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and site supervisors.
• Monitor costs and update forecasts through the project lifecycle.
• Ensure procurement aligns with internal policies and schedules.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance.
