IDVA / Support Worker

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £20,976.09 per annum

Hours: 30 hours per week

Contract: Contract until March 2027 with extensions

Reporting to: Domestic Abuse Service Manager

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting survivors of domestic abuse and helping people make positive, sustainable changes in their lives? We are looking for an experienced IDVA / Support Worker to join a specialist domestic abuse service, providing high-quality support to survivors experiencing standard and medium-risk domestic abuse. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference, supporting survivors to recover from the impact of domestic abuse, improve their safety and wellbeing, and move towards a future free from abuse. You will work closely with survivors, partner agencies and professionals to ensure support is holistic, collaborative and centred around the needs and wishes of each individual.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality support to survivors experiencing standard and medium-risk domestic abuse.
  • Complete risk assessments and safety plans, ensuring survivor safety remains at the heart of your work.
  • Support survivors through relevant criminal justice processes.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including the police, social care and specialist domestic abuse organisations.
  • Help survivors make long-term, positive and sustainable changes in their lives and recover from the impact of domestic abuse.
  • Ensure the views and experiences of survivors are central to service development and delivery.
  • Gather feedback from service users and contribute to survivor involvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records, monitoring information and outcome data.
  • Support safeguarding activity relating to both adults and children.
  • Deliver presentations and briefings to professionals to raise awareness and improve responses to domestic abuse.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of specialist domestic abuse training.
  • Build positive relationships with key organisations and stakeholders to identify service gaps and improve partnership working.
  • Promote the domestic abuse service to potential referrers and support relevant campaigns and communications.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy and best practice relating to domestic abuse, safeguarding, equality and gender-based violence.
  • Contribute to the wider work of the organisation, including campaigns, fundraising, communications and service development.
About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting survivors of domestic abuse and has the knowledge, skills and experience to provide effective, person-centred support. You will need to be able to:

  • Assess risk effectively and develop appropriate safety plans.
  • Work confidently with partner agencies and other professionals.
  • Understand the impact of domestic abuse and the barriers survivors can face.
  • Work in a trauma-informed, survivor-centred and empowering way.
  • Maintain accurate case management and monitoring records.
  • Communicate confidently with both service users and professionals.
  • Work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving adults and children.
  • Adapt positively to changing service requirements and priorities.
