Job summary

Hamilton Barnes seeks an Identity Technical Specialist to lead a major consolidation of two identity environments into a single Entra ID tenant and retire the legacy system. You will drive end-to-end identity changes, coordinate with the in-house team and MSP, and prepare cut-over and rollback plans for a secure, scalable cloud migration.

Qualifications

• Hands-on IAM experience in Entra ID environments.
• Delivery of a consolidation or post-merger migration.
• Strong Entra ID capabilities: CA, MFA, PIM, app registrations/enterprise apps, B2B, Entra Connect / Cloud Sync and hybrid AD.
• Experience automating joiner/mover/leaver processes with HR and ITSM systems (ServiceNow) and implementing RBAC.
• Scripting with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
• Good technical documentation and experience working with MSPs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver identity changes end to end with in-house teams, MSPs and project teams.
• Implement improvements from IAM assessment.
• Migrate users, groups, applications/SSO, guest accounts and devices into the Entra ID tenant.
• Prepare cut-over and rollback plans, validate outcomes and decommission legacy environment.
• Configure and harden Entra ID ahead of cloud migration (CA, MFA, SAML/OIDC, Entra Connect).
• Automate joiner/mover/leaver with HR systems and ServiceNow; implement RBAC.
• Implement privileged access controls (PIM) and cloud prerequisites (Azure RBAC).
• Produce technical documentation, runbooks and audit evidence.
• Handover knowledge to in-house team and MSP to sustain capability.

The organization is expanding its team and is looking to appoint an Identity Technical Specialist to lead a programme of identity change across a large estate. The ideal candidate will consolidate two identity environments, inherited through an acquisition, into a single tenant and retire the legacy environment, building an identity capability that is secure, automated, and ready to scale ahead of a global cloud migration. The role reports to the Platform, Cloud & Identity Manager and works alongside the in-house identity team and a managed service provider.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, sequence and deliver identity changes end to end, coordinating with the in-house team, the MSP and project teams
• Implement the agreed tactical improvements from a recent IAM assessment
• Migrate users, groups, applications/SSO, guest (B2B) accounts, devices and dependent services from the legacy environment into the target Entra ID tenant
• Prepare and run cut-over and rollback plans, validate outcomes and safely decommission the legacy environment
• Configure and harden Entra ID ahead of cloud migration, including Conditional Access, MFA/passwordless, SAML/OIDC app integration, Entra Connect / Cloud Sync and hybrid Active Directory
• Automate joiner/mover/leaver processes with HR systems and ServiceNow, and implement access reviews and RBAC
• Implement privileged access controls (PIM, admin tiering, break-glass accounts) and the identity prerequisites for cloud platforms (Azure RBAC, managed identities)
• Produce technical documentation, configuration standards and runbooks, and provide audit and controls evidence as required
• Hand over knowledge to the in-house team and support the MSP so the capability is sustained after the engagement

Skills/Must Have:

• Proven hands-on experience in identity and access management, ideally in Microsoft Entra ID environments
• Delivery of an identity consolidation or tenant-to-tenant migration (e.g. post-merger)
• Strong Entra ID skills: Conditional Access, MFA, PIM, app registrations/enterprise apps, B2B, Entra Connect / Cloud Sync and hybrid AD
• Experience automating joiner/mover/leaver processes with HR and ITSM systems (ideally ServiceNow) and implementing RBAC
• Working knowledge of SAML, OIDC, OAuth and SCIM, plus PowerShell / Microsoft Graph scripting
• Clear technical documentation skills and experience working alongside MSPs

Desirable Skills:

• Identity governance tooling such as SailPoint (One Identity Manager also beneficial)
• Microsoft SC-300 (Identity and Access Administrator) and awareness of Zero Trust principles
• Experience of SAP access / emergency access controls
• Experience in regulated, critical-infrastructure or energy sector environments
