Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated ICU Housekeeper to support the Intensive Care Unit. The role ensures a safe, clean, well‑stocked and welcoming environment, enabling clinical staff to focus on patient care.

You will manage stock, assist with meals and hydration, and help maintain infection prevention standards in a busy ICU setting. Excellent organisational skills and teamwork are essential, with shift patterns including weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, hospitality or customer service environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, relatives and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Understanding of cleanliness, infection prevention and health and safety standards.
• Stock management and equipment maintenance experience is desirable.
• Basic IT skills including email and data entry.
• Compassionate, professional approach and patient‑focused service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe and organised ICU environment.
• Manage ward stock, supplies and equipment, ensuring items are available.
• Support infection prevention and control standards via cleaning and checks.
• Assist with patient meal orders, food preparation and hydration support.
• Prepare bed spaces and support patient flow and turnover.
• Carry out equipment checks, report faults and coordinate repairs.
• Support environmental audits and service improvements.
• Coordinate with Portering, Estates, Stores and Hotel Services.
• Provide welcoming, professional service to patients, relatives and visitors.
• Assist multidisciplinary team with non-clinical tasks to free clinicians for patient care.
