Job summary

TeacherActive in Darlington is seeking an IT Teacher with SEN experience to deliver IT and Computing up to Key Stage 5 in a specialist setting. This role focuses on inclusive, differentiated lessons and safeguarding.

You will work with teaching assistants, therapists and families, plan engaging lessons, monitor progress and contribute to the school community. A QTS or equivalent is required, and DBS clearance is expected.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching IT/Computing up to KS5.
  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Teach IT and Computing to students from KS3 to KS5.
  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons meeting diverse needs.
  • Support students with SEN including ASC, ADHD, SLCN, SEMH.
  • Monitor, assess and report on progress.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, families and school team.
  • Contribute to school life and positive learning environment.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and inspirational IT Teacher to join our specialist school in Darlington. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), teaching Information Technology and Computing up to Key Stage 5.

The Role

You will:

  • Teach IT and Computing to students from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5.
  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that meet a range of learning needs.
  • Support students with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider school team to ensure the best outcomes for every learner.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and promote a positive learning environment.
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching IT/Computing up to Key Stage 5.
  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and engage learners with diverse needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
