ICT Passive Infrastructure Engineer - Design & Projects

Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom is seeking an ICT Engineer to support the passive infrastructure and building systems design across projects. You will participate in the full design lifecycle, from bidding to installation, while representing client interests and ensuring compliance with standards.

The role involves project delivery either solo or in a team, with occasional travel and security vetting. Relevant degrees and qualifications are required; MoD/Gov/Nuclear experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree and qualifications such as Cisco qualifications, APMP, NVQs, HNC or HND, or Modern Apprenticeship.
• Working towards or have attained CEng status.
• Knowledge of copper and fibre infrastructure systems and standards, data centre design and standards, OSP & ISP design and standards, small power and BS7671 requirements, building systems such as access control, intruder detection, CCTV, fire detection/suppression and HVAC.
• Good working knowledge of standards applicable to ICT Infrastructure.
• Experience and understanding of building services infrastructure is essential.
• Competent in MS Project, AutoCAD, and MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Desirable MoD, Government or Nuclear experience; MoD CIDA; JSP453; Prince 2 or PMI; RCDD; Experience of RIBA stages of design.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the ICT Passive Infrastructure lead and contributing to projects involving ICT passive infrastructure and building systems.
• Participating in full design lifecycle from bid work, designing passive networks and systems to representing the client’s interests during installation.
• Be actively involved in project delivery either as part of a team or independently.
• Assist in developing the capability to secure interesting work.
• Occasional travel to other UK locations and overseas opportunities.
