Job summary

Randstad Education in Cambridge is partnering with a network of secondary schools to recruit qualified Computing/ ICT teachers for day-to-day cover or longer-term placements across Key Stage 3 and 4. We welcome NQT/ECT and experienced teachers who can adapt to different school environments.

Deliver engaging ICT and Computer Science lessons, manage classrooms, and contribute to department activities. Competitive daily rates and a dedicated local consultant are provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (or recognised UK teaching qualification).
• Strong classroom management and communication abilities.
• Ability to adapt to different school environments across Cambridge.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging ICT and Computer Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Create a positive learning environment in computer labs, managing equipment and behaviour.
• Adapt instruction to diverse learning needs including SEND.
• Leave clear handover notes for regular class teachers on day-to-day cover.
• For long-term roles: plan, assess, and contribute to parents' evenings and department meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, structured ICT and Computer Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering digital literacy, coding capability (e.g., Python), computational thinking, and cyber-awareness.

• Create a positive, secure, and productive learning environment in computer labs, managing equipment and student behaviour effectively in line with school policies.

• Adapt learning delivery to accommodate students with diverse learning styles and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

• Leave clear, professional handover notes for regular class teachers when fulfilling day-to-day cover assignments.

• For long-term roles: plan, assess, and mark work, track student progress against GCSE/vocational specifications, participate in department meetings, and contribute to parents' evenings as required.

What We Look For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (or recognised UK teaching qualification).

• Specialist subject knowledge in Computer Science, ICT, or digital technologies across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

• Strong classroom and lab management skills, with the confidence to step into dynamic secondary environments.

• An adaptable, punctual, and professional approach with excellent communication skills.

• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
