Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is offering a UK-wide IBD fellowship post aimed at post-CCT/senior registrar level in gastroenterology. The post focuses on providing specialist experience in inflammatory bowel disease and independent endoscopy (OGD or colonoscopy) with no on-call commitment.

The role includes participation in multidisciplinary clinics and MDTs, involvement in IBD trials, audits, and service improvement projects, with access to dedicated training and research

Qualifications

• Post-CCT or towards end of specialist training in gastroenterology.
• Evidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance.
• Independent endoscopist OGD or colonoscopy (colonoscopy sign off anticipated by start of post)

Responsibilities

• Participate in regular complex IBD inpatient and outpatient work.
• Joint IBD / Surgical clinics and IBD/PSC clinics.
• IBD pregnancy outpatient reviews and paediatric-to-adult IBD transition clinics.
• Weekly IBD MDTs with Radiology, Histology, Colorectal Surgery.
• Access to training list for chromoendoscopy and IBD/PSC surveillance.
• Provide urgent IP consultations for acute severe colitis and liaise with IBD surgeons.
• Involvement in multicenter IBD trials and research publications.
• Participate in mandated departmental and service audits and improvement projects.
