Job summary

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to lead inflammatory bowel disease services at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. The role is Band 8a, fixed-term for 12 months, part-time 22.5 hours with on-call and weekend duties.

The successful candidate will provide safe, cost-effective clinical pharmacy care for IBD patients, develop prescribing policies, and support high-cost therapies within the service.

Qualifications

• Vocational Master’s degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent.
• Postgraduate UK Diploma or higher in Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy Practice or equivalent.
• Foundation Pharmacist (Pre-Registration) training completed.
• Annotation to the GPhC Pharmacist Register as an independent prescriber.
• Member of the UKCPA Gastroenterology Clinical Group.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide safe, cost-effective clinical pharmacy services for IBD patients.
• Clinically assess and treat IBD patients in scheduled outpatient clinics as required.
• Contribute to prescribing policy development for shared care in IBD.
• Support safe and cost-effective use of high-cost drug therapies in IBD.
• Horizon scan for new therapeutics and submit access requests to Medicines Optimisation.
• Engage with industry to gain access to financial agreements and rebates.
• Participate in on-call and out-of-hours pharmacy services rota.
