Job summary

Associated Seafoods Ltd in Arbroath is seeking a hands-on Hygiene Team Leader to safeguard product integrity across fresh, smoked, and ready-to-eat fish production areas. You will lead the hygiene team, ensure compliance with hygiene, safety and customer standards, and support audits.

The role includes coaching operatives, managing cleaning documentation, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Experience with hygiene systems and cleaning chemicals.
• COSHH and GMP knowledge.
• HACCP Level 2 and Food Hygiene Level 2 mandatory.
• Previous supervision or team-leading experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety and customer standards.
• Report hazards and support investigations where required.
• Ensure safe handling, storage and documentation of cleaning chemicals.
• Lead, motivate, support and allocate tasks to the Hygiene Operatives.
• Monitor completion of cleaning activities to required standards.

• Work hands-on alongside the team during cleaning operations.
• Support training and development of team members.
• Conduct visual checks and support microbiological and audit activities.
• Ensure all cleaning documentation is completed accurately.
• Take corrective action where standards are not met.
• Resolve shift issues and communicate effectively with relevant departments.

Job Overview

We are looking for a hands‑on Hygiene Team Leader to support the delivery of exceptional hygiene standards across our fresh, smoked and ready‑to‑eat fish production areas. This is a key operational role responsible for leading and working alongside the hygiene team to ensure our site consistently meets and exceeds legal, customer and company standards.

You will play a critical part in protecting product integrity, supporting audit readiness, driving performance, and promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

About You

• Highly organised with great attention to detail
• Self‑motivated, using own initiative with minimal supervision
• Able to multitask & work under pressure
• Friendly, approachable, and able to build trust quickly across all departments
• Possessing excellent leadership skills with ability to organise, motivate and engage team members to drive performance
• Being able to effectively manage difficult situations and conversations
• Has good knowledge of hygiene systems, cleaning chemicals, COSHH, GMP
• Confident in communicating and engaging with colleagues at all levels
• HACCP Level 2 and Food Hygiene Level 2
• Enthusiastic attitude and ability to take initiative.
• Previous experience as a Team Leader or in a supervisory role is desirable but not essential.
