Job summary

The Sterling Choice is seeking an experienced Hygiene Section Leader to manage a busy food manufacturing operation on a permanent night shift. You will lead the Hygiene team, ensuring excellent hygiene and safety standards are maintained while deploying the team effectively across the shift.

You will take responsibility for day-to-day section leadership, drive training needs, and ensure high standards of hygiene, documentation and waste reduction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience leading hygiene, industrial cleaning or food manufacturing teams.
• Hands-on and proactive approach to team leadership.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work night shift (Mon–Fri, 21:30–06:00).

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the Hygiene team on shift.
• Maintain high hygiene, housekeeping, quality and health & safety standards.
• Ensure safe practices around chemicals, equipment and processes.
• Manage labour and deploy the team against the hygiene plan.
• Coordinate breaks and handovers to maintain workflow.
• Monitor attendance and performance; conduct return-to-work meetings.
• Coach team members to build a flexible, multi-skilled group.
• Maintain hygiene records and documentation; support continuous improvement.

We are looking for an experienced Hygiene Section Leader to join a busy food manufacturing operation on a permanent night shift.

If you have experience leading people within hygiene, industrial cleaning, food manufacturing or a similar fast-paced environment, this is an opportunity to take ownership of a key section within a large and established manufacturing business.

You’ll be responsible for leading and motivating the Hygiene team, ensuring excellent hygiene and safety standards are maintained while making sure the team is deployed effectively throughout the shift.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take day-to-day responsibility for your section, including:

• Leading and motivating the Hygiene team on shift
• Ensuring high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, quality and health & safety are maintained
• Making sure safe working practices around chemicals, equipment, processes and materials are followed
• Managing labour and deploying the team effectively against the hygiene plan
• Managing breaks and shift handovers to maintain workflow
• Monitoring performance, attendance and absence within the team
• Carrying out return-to-work meetings and first-stage people management processes where required
• Coaching and developing team members to create a flexible, multi-skilled team
• Ensuring hygiene records and documentation are completed accurately
• Identifying training requirements and supporting continuous improvement
• Working efficiently to reduce waste and make the best use of available resources
• Maintaining strong communication between the Hygiene team, management and other departments

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience within hygiene, industrial cleaning, food manufacturing or a similar environment
• Previous team leader, supervisor or people-management experience
• A hands-on and proactive approach
• Confidence managing and motivating a team
• Good IT skills
• Strong numerical skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• The ability to work the permanent night shift of Monday to Friday, 21:30-06:00
• Food manufacturing experience would be beneficial, but we’re also interested in people who have led hygiene or industrial cleaning teams in other high-volume environments.
