Job summary

Fox's Burton's Companies (FBC UK) is recruiting a Hygiene Manager for the Blackpool Bakery. You will lead site hygiene, develop cleaning schedules, and ensure compliance with food safety standards across the site.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated Hygiene Manager experience in FMCG, IOSH and Level 3 Food Safety qualifications, and strong leadership to guide the Hygiene Team and collaborate with Operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a comparable Hygiene Manager role, ideally within an FMCG environment.
• IOSH qualification (or currently working towards it).
• Level 3 Food Safety qualification is desirable.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust cleaning schedules and documentation across the Bakery.
• Provide leadership and support to the Hygiene Team and wider Operations teams.
• Collaborate with Operations and Plant Planning to integrate hygiene processes into planning cycles.
• Define and oversee pest control activities to maintain sanitary working conditions.
• Champion initiatives that strengthen hygiene culture throughout the Bakery.
• Stay up to date with hygiene and pest control techniques and improve practices.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, customer requirements and certifications; onboard hygiene training.
• Build relationships with suppliers and contractors and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead continuous improvement to elevate cleaning methods, standards, and efficiency.
• Manage the hygiene budget within the Technical Department.

Job description

We're excited to be recruiting a Hygiene Manager to join our fantastic team at the Blackpool Bakery. In this pivotal role, you'll lead site hygiene activities to ensure our facilities consistently meet the highest standards and that the hygienic integrity of our plant supports the exceptional quality of all FBC products. Main Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust cleaning schedules and documentation across the Bakery.
• Provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to the Hygiene Team and wider Operations teams.
• Collaborate closely with Operations and Plant Planning to ensure hygiene processes are effectively integrated into planning cycles.
• Define and oversee pest control activities to maintain safe, sanitary working conditions across the site.
• Champion and support initiatives that strengthen hygiene culture throughout the Bakery.
• Stay up to date with emerging hygiene and pest control techniques, identifying opportunities to enhance current practices.
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, customer requirements, partner codes of practice, and certification standards.Guarantee all employees receive appropriate hygiene training, including onboarding for new starters.
• Build strong relationships with hygiene suppliers and contractors, setting clear expectations and driving continuous improvement.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on elevating cleaning methods, standards, and efficiency across the Bakery.
• Manage the hygiene budget within the Technical Department, ensuring effective and responsible cost control.
  Demonstrated experience in a comparable Hygiene Manager role, ideally within an FMCG environment.
• IOSH qualification (or currently working towards it).
• Level 3 Food Safety qualification is desirable.
• A track record of consistently delivering and maintaining high hygiene standards across a site.
• Genuine passion for hygiene, food safety, and technical excellence.
• Experience collaborating with third-party service providers.
• Proven ability to work effectively with Health, Safety & Environment teams to ensure compliance, risk identification, assessment, and control.
• Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
• Proactive, results-driven approach, with the ability to act quickly and deliver within tight timeframes.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Relationship-driven, with strong communication skills and the confidence to work cross-functionally.
• Flexibility with working hours and days to meet the needs of the business.
