Job summary

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is seeking a Hydrologist to support internal teams and external stakeholders with technical hydrology and water resource management. You will analyse real-world hydrological data to inform decisions on water abstraction licences, drought response, and post-flood analysis.

You will work on the River Dee regulation scheme and contribute to sustainable water management across North and Mid Wales.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant scientific subject (e.g. physical geography, environment science)
• Member of appropriate professional body (e.g. CIWEM or ICE) or willing to work towards membership
• Relevant experience in hydrology/water resources management or statistical data analysis would be an advantage
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of hydrological concepts and data collection methods
• Computer literate with report writing and data manipulation skills
• Full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely support for operational decisions by analysing data and preparing reports from field investigations
• Contribute to investigations, identifying concerns and providing technical response to influence environmental outcomes
• Check compliance with environmental standards and undertake front line inspection and monitoring
• Contribute to emergency plans including drought and flood incident management
• Produce water situation and drought monitoring reports using hydrometric data
