Scotland (Hybrid – 2-3 Days in Office) | Full-Time | Competitive Salary DOE

Our client is a well-established Scottish environmental and engineering consultancy working on some of the most complex and sensitive land and infrastructure projects across the UK. As their project portfolio grows, they’re looking to strengthen their hydrology team with a capable and motivated Hydrologist.

This role sits within a close-knit environmental team and reports directly to the Principal Hydrologist. It offers the chance to take ownership of flood risk assessments and hydrological studies that directly shape development in a changing climate.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading and supporting Flood Risk Assessments (FRA Level 1 & 2)
  • Conducting site surveys and field-based hydrological assessments
  • Running and interpreting hydrological and hydraulic modelling
  • Advising on hydrological risks related to development, planning, and infrastructure
  • Working collaboratively with environmental scientists, engineers, and clients
  • Supporting the development of junior staff (if stepping into a senior/principal role)

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar consultancy or regulatory environment
  • Proven capability delivering Level 1 & 2 FRAs with minimal oversight
  • Strong field skills – confident conducting site-based assessments
  • Proficient in hydrological modelling and data analysis
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to a small technical team

Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Experience with peatland hydrology, river flow analysis, or watercourse redesign
  • Background in regulatory engagement or planning submissions
  • Familiarity with Scottish-specific flood or water guidance

Team & Setup:

  • Join an environmental team of 12, with 2 focused on hydrology
  • Open to mid-level, senior, or principal hires depending on experience
  • Flexible working with a preference for 2-3 days per week in the office

If you're a hands-on Hydrologist with strong modelling and FRA expertise, and want to work in a team where your voice counts—this is an ideal next step.
