Job summary

SSE Renewables Hydro is seeking a Mechanical Craftsperson to operate, maintain and repair hydro generation plant. You will be part of the operations and maintenance team, ensuring safety and efficiency across assets.

The role requires a mechanical or multi-skilled background, NVQ3/City & Guilds, and good computer literacy. A full UK driving licence is essential, with relocation within 30 miles of the base location.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or multi-skilled craft background.
• Experience with heavy rotating machinery preferred.
• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification or equivalent apprenticeship.
• Good computer literacy with training on in-house software.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out mechanical maintenance, multidisciplinary defect rectification, repairs and designated project work across our Hydro Generation assets.
• Completing routine inspections and checks to ensure generation equipment and fixed plant remain safe, reliable and operationally effective.
• Undertaking risk assessments and environmental and safety inspections, with training provided to operate Hydro Generation plant.
• Collaborating with colleagues to identify, report and resolve operational defects as they arise.
