Job summary

Permanent Futures Limited is seeking an experienced Hydraulic Fitter to join a well-established engineering team in Halifax. You will be responsible for building, installing, servicing, and repairing hydraulic components across a range of industrial equipment, ensuring high safety and quality standards.

You will diagnose faults, interpret hydraulic schematics, and perform preventative maintenance while collaborating with engineers and production teams to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Hydraulic Fitter or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and components.
  • Ability to interpret hydraulic circuit diagrams and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools in a workshop.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence (if field-based).

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and commission hydraulic systems and components.
  • Diagnose hydraulic and mechanical faults using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Repair and replace hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, motors, hoses, and associated components.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and planned servicing on hydraulic equipment.
  • Pressure test hydraulic systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, and job documentation accurately.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and production teams to minimise downtime.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and report recurring equipment issues.

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering company seeking an experienced Hydraulic Fitter to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical professional who enjoys working with hydraulic systems, fault finding, assembly, maintenance, and repairs across a range of industrial equipment and machinery.


The successful candidate will be responsible for building, installing, servicing, and repairing hydraulic components while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.


Key Responsibilities

Essential


  • Previous experience working as a Hydraulic Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Plant Fitter, or similar role.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and components.

  • Ability to interpret hydraulic circuit diagrams and engineering drawings.

  • Experience with hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair.

  • Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Full UK driving licence (if field-based)
