Job summary

Yorkshire is seeking a Hydraulics Design Engineer to develop practical hydraulic solutions and drive designs into production. You will support design, development and improvement of hydraulic systems from initial spec through testing and manufacture.

Responsibilities include designing circuits, producing schematics, performing calculations and coordinating with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure robust, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience designing hydraulic systems in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Sound understanding of hydraulic components, circuit design and system calculations.
• Experience using CAD software to produce drawings and schematics.
• Practical problem-solving approach and clear technical communication.
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Design hydraulic circuits and select pumps, valves and actuators.
• Produce hydraulic schematics, drawings and bills of materials.
• Carry out calculations for pressure, flow, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and production teams to meet requirements.
• Support prototype builds, testing and troubleshooting.
• Improve existing designs for reliability, manufacturability and cost.

We are recruiting a Hydraulics Design Engineer on behalf of our client, a well-known manufacturer. This opportunity would suit an engineer who enjoys developing practical hydraulic solutions and working closely with manufacturing teams to bring designs into production.

You will support the design, development and improvement of hydraulic systems, taking projects from initial specification through to testing and production.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Designing hydraulic circuits and selecting pumps, valves, cylinders and associated components.
• Producing hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings and bills of materials.
• Completing calculations to assess system pressure, flow, performance and efficiency.
• Working with mechanical, electrical and production teams to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Supporting prototype builds, testing and troubleshooting.
• Improving existing designs to enhance reliability, manufacturability and cost.
• Liaising with suppliers on component specifications and technical queries.

About you

• Experience designing hydraulic systems within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
