Job summary

Guardian Jobs is seeking an experienced Project Design Engineer to join a well-established company based in Gateshead. The role focuses on the technical delivery of hydraulic projects, including design, planning and execution to meet customer needs.

You will work in the workshop and on-site, with responsibilities spanning designing drawings and hydraulic schematics, preparing quotations, performing calculations, sizing components, supporting testing and commissioning, and ensuring projects meet

Qualifications

• 2:1 Bachelor degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience.
• Ability to carry out engineering calculations.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical/control system.
• Time management skills to handle multi-tasking.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods.
• Good knowledge of computer assisted design (CAD) software – Autodesk Inventor preferred.
• Interest in working both in a desk and workshop environment.
• Creative approach for generating new ideas.
• Strong background in math and science.
• Clear communicator both written and verbal.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word.
• Eligible to work permanently in the UK.
• Full driving license.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customer and clarify requirements.
• Prepare engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
• Prepare quotations and technical specifications.
• Carry out engineering calculations.
• Size components to optimise performance and cost.
• Support technicians during testing and commissioning.
• Prepare technical documents and work files.
• Ensure project financial targets are met.
• Attend site or workshop when required.
