Job summary

Murray McIntosh Associates Ltd is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support water and wastewater projects in the UK. The role is a 12-month rolling contract with hybrid working: 3 days per week in the Bury office, with site attendance as required.

You will develop commissioning plans, review designs, coordinate activities with PMs, designers, contractors and site teams, perform pre-commissioning checks, test systems, and produce handover packs, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience commissioning across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Water and wastewater sector experience preferred (utilities/industrial).
• Knowledge of pumps, pipework, valves and treatment processes.
• Ability to fault-find and troubleshoot commissioning issues.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Develop commissioning plans, programmes and documentation.
• Review designs to ensure assets can be commissioned.
• Coordinate commissioning with PMs, Designers, Contractors and site teams.
• Inspect installations against design specifications.
• Perform pre-commissioning checks and functional testing.
• Test mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve commissioning issues.
• Manage performance and process testing to demonstrate client compliance.
• Produce commissioning documentation, test records and handover packs.
• Support operational teams during start-up and training.
• Ensure commissioning activities are safe and compliant.
