Job summary

Railpen Limited in London is seeking an Investment Manager for Venture and Growth Equity within the Private Markets team on a permanent basis with hybrid working. You will manage the full investment lifecycle from origination to portfolio management, developing investment theses, conducting due diligence, building financial models, and presenting papers to senior stakeholders.

Collaboration with fund managers, entrepreneurs and co-investors will be key to delivering attractive long-term returns

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience within venture capital, growth equity, private equity or related investment strategies.
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills.
• Broad understanding of businesses across diverse sectors.
• Experience conducting commercial, financial and operational due diligence and ability to manage end to end investment processes.
• Strong investment judgement, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate venture and growth equity investment opportunities.
• Build financial models and valuation analyses.
• Conduct commercial, financial and operational due diligence.
• Develop investment theses and investment recommendations.
• Structure and execute investment transactions.
• Prepare and present investment papers to senior stakeholders.
• Monitor portfolio performance, risks and value drivers.
• Assess follow-on investment opportunities and exit options.
• Contribute to portfolio construction and capital allocation decisions.
• Conduct market, sector and thematic research.
• Identify emerging trends, opportunities and risks.
• Support investment strategy development and strategic initiatives.
• Build relationships with fund managers, entrepreneurs, management teams, advisers and co-investors.
• Present investment and portfolio updates to stakeholders.
• Represent Railpen at meetings, conferences and industry events.
• Collaborate across Private Markets and the wider organisation.
• Share knowledge, insights and best practice.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement and intellectual curiosity.
• Mentor and support junior colleagues where appropriate.
