Job summary

Ibstock PLC is seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to join our Head Office Payroll team in the UK. You will process monthly payroll for around 1,800 colleagues, handle changes, respond to queries and ensure compliance with payroll legislation.

Working with Employee Services, People Systems and Finance, you will contribute to accurate, timely payroll and improvements to processes. The role offers hybrid working and a path for professional payroll development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a UK payroll environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and PAYE.
• Experience processing payroll changes and deductions.
• Excellent attention to detail and data quality.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• Customer-focused with ability to explain payroll matters clearly.
• Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication across functions.
• Experience using payroll systems and Excel.
• Proactive and flexible, with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll for about 1,800 colleagues.
• Administer payroll changes across the employee lifecycle.
• Calculate and process pay adjustments, statutory payments, deductions and taxes.
• Respond to payroll queries with clear, professional advice.
• Prepare payroll payments, including BACS and HMRC submissions.
• Complete regular payroll checks, reconciliations and reporting.
• Support payroll month-end and year-end activities and submissions.
• Work with Finance to reconcile payroll data and GL reporting.
• Administer payrolling of benefits in kind.
• Support payroll system updates and legislative changes.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance.
• Keep up-to-date with UK payroll legislation and regulatory guidance.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls.
• Build strong relationships to provide reliable service.
