Job summary

Propel Consult is working with an established manufacturing business seeking a Payroll Team Lead to oversee the day-to-day UK payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement within a supportive finance team.

You will work closely with the Payroll Manager in a hybrid setup (4 days on-site, 1 day WFH), take responsibility for monthly payroll processing, respond to payroll queries and support year-end activities.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of end-to-end payroll processing.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NIC, pensions).
• Experience with payroll queries, reconciliations and statutory submissions.
• Excellent attention to detail and data confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly UK payrolls end-to-end including starters and leavers.
• Ensure RTI submissions and statutory payments are compliant.
• Review and reconcile time and attendance data.
• Respond to payroll queries and maintain high customer service levels.
• Support audits, year-end reporting and stakeholder communications.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure compliant processes.
