Job summary

Royal London is seeking a Technical Lead to join Group Technology and Change in Alderley Park. You’ll shape and deliver the technical direction of a specialist platform that supports multiple areas of the business, reporting to the Principal Engineer and working with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to ensure resilience and security.

You will lead the technical roadmap, act as the technical authority, oversee upgrades with vendors, and drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong technical leadership experience with a collaborative mindset.
• Deep knowledge of PHP and/or Oracle/SQL and PL/SQL or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading technical or development teams.
• Experience managing third‑party suppliers and external partners.
• Ability to influence, communicate clearly and build relationships at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical roadmap for a complex platform to ensure availability and performance.
• Act as the technical authority, guiding tools, methods and best practices.
• Plan and oversee technical upgrades with third-party vendors.
• Identify opportunities to leverage new platform capabilities.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
• Contribute to medium-term planning and portfolio shaping.
• Support the build out of delivery capability through people, process and tools.
