Job summary

UST is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional team responsible for reliability, scalability, performance and security of internally developed applications in a Nottingham hybrid environment.

You will develop people, align technical priorities with business goals and promote SRE practices across the organisation, collaborating with product and engineering teams to improve platform health and resilience.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an engineering team delivering against business objectives.
• Strong background in software/systems engineering and cloud architecture.
• Excellent knowledge of SDLC in cloud environments.
• Experience designing and managing RESTful APIs using Java or .NET.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional group of engineers applying Site Reliability Engineering principles.
• Improve observability and service automation to reduce operational overhead.
• Identify development opportunities for engineers and support them in achieving goals.
• Troubleshoot architectural and technology challenges and guide effective solutions.
• Define and track Service Level Objectives to measure availability.
• Collaborate with service, product and engineering communities to improve performance.
• Partner with managers to manage workload priorities.
• Oversee platforms that are performant, reliable, scalable and secure.
• Estimate, refine and prioritise workload in an agile environment.
• Drive continuous improvement across platform health and resilience.
• Create opportunities for innovation within the engineering team.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to strengthen SRE practices.
