Job summary

Spire is seeking a GNC/AOCS Engineer to join a technical team responsible for the full lifecycle of the GNC product and its subcomponents, interfacing with hardware, software and systems groups to accelerate design, validation and deployment of nanosatellite attitude control.

You will design flight sensors and actuators, develop 6-DOF simulations, and own avionics peripherals while applying Kalman filter concepts and embedded C/Python code in Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with flight sensors for attitude determination/estimation.
• Experience with actuators, including sizing, modelling and integration.
• Solid foundation in spacecraft attitude dynamics and control.
• Hands-on HW experience and hardware-in-the-loop familiarity.
• Experience developing software in C or Python.
• Experience with Linux development environments.
• Experience collaborating with external engineering contractors.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, select, qualify and implement flight sensors and actuators.
• Design, evaluate and implement flight actuators and propulsion systems.
• Develop and maintain 6-DOF simulation models for GNC subcomponents.
• Provide technical ownership of GNC avionics peripherals and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with hardware, software and systems engineers to integrate avionics.
• Develop qualification and acceptance processes and work hands-on in lab and manufacturing.
