Job summary

PwC in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Technical Accounting and Financial Modelling Manager for a 6-month contract with a hybrid pattern (3 days on site, 2 from home). You will lead technical accounting work, build complex Excel models and support impairment and going concern assessments.

The role requires deep IFRS knowledge (IAS 36/IAS 1) and experience in large, multinational groups, with a focus on audit-ready documentation and robust modelling practices.

Qualifications

• Strong IFRS knowledge and ability to apply IAS 36 and IAS 1 to complex matters.
• Advanced financial modelling skills and a track record of building robust models.
• Experience in impairment assessments and going concern analysis.
• Ability to link model outputs to accounting disclosures and conclusions.
• Experience in listed multinational or complex groups with multiple units.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop and remediate Excel-based financial models for impairment and going concern.
• Ensure model designs align with forecasts, assumptions and source data.
• Translate accounting requirements into modelling methodologies (IAS 36/IAS 1).
• Develop base, downside and severe scenarios with sensitivities and headroom.
• Assess impairment across goodwill, intangibles, PPE, investments and intercompany balances.
• Review models for structural weaknesses and implement remediation.
• Create transparent model structures with clear inputs, calculations and outputs.
• Draft audit-ready technical accounting and modelling papers.

Education

ACCA/ICSA/ICAS or equivalent professional qualification
