Job summary

Addington Ball Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Practice Accountant / Client Manager on the northern side of Leeds. You will manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, provide proactive accountancy and tax advice, and lead a small team to deliver high-quality client service.

The role offers hybrid and flexible working and a clear path for career progression. You’ll build trusted relationships, mentor junior staff, and drive improvements in processes while ensuring deadlines are met.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified
• Experience managing a portfolio within an accountancy practice
• Confident communicating with clients and building lasting relationships
• Enjoys developing and supporting junior team members
• Strong technical knowledge across accounts and taxation
• Commercially aware with a proactive approach to client service
• Audit exposure would be beneficial but is not essential

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of owner-managed business clients.
• Build trusted client relationships and provide proactive accountancy and tax advice.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team.
• Review accounts and tax work to ensure quality and compliance.
• Support business development through networking and identifying opportunities.
• Drive improvements to systems, processes and client service.
• Manage workflow to ensure deadlines are consistently achieved.
