Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Design Interface Engineer to lead interface management across rail, civils, utilities and 3rd parties for a major UK project. You will coordinate multiple design teams, review ICDs, and ensure designs are buildable, compliant and integrated across disciplines.

The role requires an engineering degree, chartered status or progress toward it, and strong communication plus problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in interface management and systems integration on major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering, utilities, structures, or rail infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, reports, and design documents.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary stakeholders and technical interfaces.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering concepts.
• Experience with ICDs, risk management, change control, and technical assurance processes.
• Understanding of track, signalling, rail systems, or depot environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage design interfaces across rail systems, civils, utilities, and third-party stakeholders.
• Coordinate internal and external designers to ensure timely delivery of design information.
• Identify and resolve interface issues, risks, and constraints throughout the design process.
• Support engineering workshops, design reviews, and technical integration meetings.
• Maintain and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface records.
• Ensure designs meet safety, quality, programme, and contractual requirements.
• Support risk management, change control, and technical assurance activities.
• Promote best practice in health, safety, sustainability, and buildability.
