Job summary

Spear-Heads is recruiting a experienced Quantity Surveyor for their Bishop Auckland base. The role covers valuations, variations and final accounts, with a strong emphasis on cost control across live projects.

You will manage subcontractor payments, monitor cash flow and produce financial forecasts while collaborating with estimating, design and purchasing teams. The position offers hybrid working: 1 day in the office, 2–3 days on site and 1 day remote.

Qualifications

• Specialist subcontractor experience is essential.
• Cladding/building envelope experience preferred.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
• Confident communicator with a proactive approach.
• Able to manage deadlines and multiple contracts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor payments, enquiries and orders.
• Produce material take-offs from drawings.
• Monitor project costs, cash flow and commercial performance.
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts.
• Work closely with estimating, design, purchasing and contracts teams.
• Support cost control and recovery of additional costs.
