Job summary

Sheridan Maine is recruiting for a Qualified Accountant in London. The role offers a broad mix of accounting, taxation and client advisory responsibilities within a friendly, professional team.

The successful candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified (or nearing qualification) with UK practice experience, and will work in a hybrid setup after probation. Salary ranges £50,000–£60,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or approaching qualification.
• Experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and financial reporting.
• Good understanding of UK accounting standards and taxation.
• Experience with a varied client portfolio, including owner‑managed businesses.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a client‑focused approach.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Proactive, collaborative and professional approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Produce management accounts and financial statements.
• Assist with corporation tax computations and compliance.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and related records.
• Support clients with day‑to‑day accounting and taxation queries.
• Liaise with clients, HMRC and external advisers as required.
• Assist with year‑end processes and deadlines.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and add value.
