Job summary

Causeway Technologies is seeking a QA Engineer for our Middlesbrough-based hybrid role. You will own automated test design, development, and execution while applying manual testing where automation is not yet in place.

You will collaborate with software engineers, delivery leads, and product owners to embed quality across the development lifecycle. The role emphasizes automation, maintaining test frameworks, and contributing to CI/CD integration.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a QA Engineer or similar role with automation output.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD integration.
• Ability to write and maintain automated test scripts across multiple levels (system, integration, regression).
• Ability to evaluate user stories for feasibility and quality impact.
• Experience debugging and refactoring within automated test code.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain automated test scripts across System, Integration, and Regression levels with automation as primary metric.
• Apply manual testing where automation is not yet in place, with a plan to automate over time.
• Analyze user stories and use cases for validity and feasibility, contributing to refinement.
• Detect, document, and track defects with clear replication steps and context.
• Set quality procedures, standards, and specifications and ensure compliance.
• Estimate effort for testing requirements and meet schedules.
• Ensure code is reviewed before changes are merged to main branch.
• Contribute to automation coverage and testing lifecycle improvements.
