Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a seasoned Planning Officer to join Bromley Council’s Development Management team on a 4-month contract. The role entails managing a diverse portfolio of planning applications, providing pre-application guidance, preparing reports, and contributing to Planning Committee deliberations in a hybrid work setup.

The ideal candidate will hold a Degree in Planning (or related field), MRTPI or eligibility, and a proven track record in Local Authority planning, with

Qualifications

• Experience in Development Management or a Planning environment.
• Proficient knowledge of planning legislation and policy.
• Proven experience in processing planning applications.
• Strong report writing and communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a diverse range of planning applications, including householder, prior approval, and change of use.
• Draft comprehensive officer reports and recommendations.
• Present applications at Planning Committee meetings.
• Lead smaller planning appeals, including written representations.
• Conduct planning site visits as necessary.
• Coordinate with statutory and non-statutory consultees.
• Address inquiries from residents, councillors, developers and stakeholders.
