Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking an experienced A130 PFI Contract Manager (Operations & Maintenance) to lead day-to-day management, oversee performance, and ensure compliance. This delivery-focused role supports handback readiness for 2030 and collaborates with CountyRoute, Essex Highways, and corporate teams.

The position is hybrid-working, based in Chelmsford, with 2-3 days home-working per week and travel to sites as needed. A driving licence and entitlement to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification (RQF Level 6) or equivalent experience.
• Experience in contract management and service delivery environments.
• Willingness to be mobile across the operational area and hold a UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of the A130 PFI contract, acting as the Council’s operational contact.
• Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contractual requirements.
• Review and validate contract reports, plans and data for decision-making.
