Job summary

Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our HR Operations team. You will deliver accurate, timely payroll processing across the group, maintain records, respond to queries and support continuous improvement in payroll services.

In this hybrid role you will work with a broad team of payroll professionals, manage starters and leavers, handle salary adjustments and deductions, and contribute to the delivery of BAU and transformation activities within our

Qualifications

• Experience within a payroll environment.
• Technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation.
• Highly motivated with excellent organisational planning skills.
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of iTrent is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll transactions accurately and within deadlines.
• Input and maintain employee payroll information (starters, leavers, changes).
• Process changes to salary, hours, allowances, deductions and other payroll payments.
• Process sick leave, statutory payments and other routine payroll adjustments.
• Process overtime, wellbeing claims and other variable pay elements.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations and validation checks.
• Identify and escalate discrepancies or unusual payroll movements to the Payroll Lead.
• Complete post payroll tasks, including account reconciliations.
• Process employee related tax returns (PSA).
• Process new starters in line with payroll deadlines.
• Ensure payroll information is complete and accurate.
• Process leavers and final salary payments.
• Ensure holiday pay and final payments are correct.
• Process salary sacrifice and other payroll deductions.
