Job summary

Nesta's Challenge Works is hiring an Operations Manager on a 12-month maternity cover to oversee financial reporting, budgeting and HR processes. The role works with Programme, Communications and Research teams, coordinating with Nesta central Finance, People and Legal teams.

You will implement new processes, develop dashboards, recruit for roles, and support team development while maintaining strong governance and efficiency across hybrid London-based operations.

Qualifications

• Track record of monitoring project budgets and operational data.
• Experience running established operational processes with minimal hand-holding.
• Outstanding organisation to manage competing priorities on a part-time schedule.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with senior leadership and central teams.
• Reliable completer-finisher who owns day-to-day issues.
• Confident using AI to improve efficiency while maintaining quality.
• Comfortable with Asana, Salesforce, Google Workspace and Slack.
• Solid understanding of governance, contracts and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Manage CW finances through programmes and proposals with budget oversight.
• Develop management information dashboards to guide decisions.
• Lead recruitment decisions and support HR processes with Nesta People Team.
• Coordinate away days and lead L&D offerings for the team.
• Maintain internal tools, templates and process maps and liaise with Nesta central functions.
